About the Cyberlibrary

The Tiempo Climate Cyberlibrary is a co-production of the Stockholm Environment Institute and the International Institute for Environment and Development. It is sponsored by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

Tiempo Climate Newswatch is a weekly on-line magazine with news, features and comment on global warming, climate change, sea-level rise and development issues. The news stories carried by Newswatch are updated weekly. Comment, features, interviews and other sections of the magazine are updated on a weekly to monthly basis.

The Tiempo Climate Portal is a listing of selected websites covering climate and development and related issues.

The Tiempo Climate Cyberlibrary is maintained and edited by Mick Kelly and Sarah Granich. The cartoons are created by Lawrence Moore. The site was developed by Mike Salmon and Mick Kelly.

AREED: African Rural Energy Enterprise Development
Initiated by UNEP, AREED assists in developing new sustainable energy enterprises. Offers training, tools, start-up support, seed capital and partnerships with banks and NGOs involved in rural energy.

Global Environment Facility
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) provides financial support to developing countries for activities intended to reduce the scale of global environmental change.

Global Village Energy Partnership
Partnership includes developing and industrialized country governments with public, private and multilateral institutions ensuring access to modern energy services for the poor. Now a WSSD Type 2 initiative.

Hilltops to Oceans

INSULA
International Scientific Council for Island Development facilitates technical cooperation and the exchange of information and experience towards the protection and development of islands throughout the world.

International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives
ICLEI helps local governments promote environmental and sustainable development initiatives through technical assistance, campaigning and training. Also works with UN-HABITAT and UNEP.

International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU)
Composed of nongovernmental scientific unions, ICSU promotes science and technology for humanity's benefit.

North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation
An international organization created by Mexico, Canada and the United States to address regional environmental concerns, help prevent potential trade and environmental conflicts, and to promote effective enforcement of environmental law.

Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme
The Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme is a research and development programme under the auspices of the International Energy Agency. The site contains information, statistics and data on projects plus summaries, publications and network links focusing on photovoltaics.

Post-Conflict Branch
The Post-Conflict Branch extends the work of the United Nations Environment Programme in areas of the world where the natural and human environment has been damaged as a direct or indirect consequence of conflict.

PREDAC: European Actions for Renewable Energies
